The word addicted somehow makes it seem that is totally the consumer's fault that we are dependent on oil products.

Truth is, the average person is really just concerned with working and feeding their family and will take the path of least resistance to accomplish those tasks.

A person has to change their lifestyle, go off the grid and spend hundreds of hours of time just to stay on top of green alternatives. It is not the average joe or jane's fault that we have to consume petroleum. The governments and our leaders are the ones who should be cutting themselves free of the control of corporations who profit from oil, the lobbyists and the campaign contributors who then keep a death grip on the powers that be - the politicans and government leaders who could actually veer us all toward greener alternatives by introducing viable and affordable alternatives. Then the average guy would have a logical choice to go green.

The President of the United States isn't even able to halt drilling in the Gulf for 6 months without the Supreme Court over-ruling him in favour of the corporations. That's how much power he has - not much.

I used to believe in grassroots movements but I don't anymore as it's become clearer to me that governments are essentially bought and controlled by big business and oil interests. Until that unholy alliance is broken, we'll be swimming in oil.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4481782198024613399.post-1791629086247970572010-06-14T16:35:35.205-07:002010-06-14T16:35:35.205-07:00This is more serious than many people think. It is like an underwater volcano that cannot be capped easily they hit something thousands of feet below the ocean floor that the pressure on this cannot be containedAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
