Lunacy, Lies and Libya. Connecting the Dots.

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places. Matthew 24:6

2011 has been quite a year so far. Riots and revolutions in the Middle East and Africa. The world’s attention has been focused on a few countries - Egypt, and now Libya - since the first popular protests broke out in Tunisia last December. Close to a dozen countries in the region have seen political unrest, and the protest movement shows no signs of slowing down. Earthquakes are happening around the world, including the disastrous one in Japan. What is behind the riots and revolutions? What will be the fallout of the earthquake in Japan? Where will the war in Libya lead to? What will be next disaster or war to happen?

The invasion of Libya by NATO and US forces was based on the grounds of protecting civilians being threatened and killed by Muammar Gaddafi. Add to the existing war in Iraq and Afghanistan and it appears the US is over its head. Why are they in those countries in the first place? It wouldn’t be control of resources such as oil would it? The United States in the past century has been a super power on the world scene. If you listen to mainstream media in North America such as CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC, CBC and others you hear one side of the story. It is indeed a biased side. All we are told by corporate controlled media, is that the US and its allies had every reason to attack countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

For my generation it seems the US always has been involved in some kind of conflict, whether it be Vietnam, Panama, Iraq to name a few. I believed what I was feed from mainstream media about the reasons for the wars and the details about the war, until the past few years. Mainstream media is controlled and even partially owned by the very same companies that profit off of war. Companies like GE, Halliburton, Lockheed Martin, and Bechtel, just to name a few, profit enormously from wars. The US government is closely connected to these companies; along will big oil companies and banks that have special interests connected to these wars. Why did the US invade Panama for example in 1989? They blamed it on Noriega being a dangerous man that needed to be ousted. It wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that one of the most treasured pieces of real estate on the planet being the Panama Canal was there? Of course it did! Invading Iraq was blamed on Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction, which were never found. Iraq has the second largest oil reserve on the planet. The Bush father and son duo were part of the big oil corporatocracy and Dick Cheney was former CEO of Halliburton. Big corporations, the CIA, mainstream media and Washington are l one big circle jerk! If war is good for business and they can sell it to the general public then they will often go to war for the wrong reasons. Connect the dots and you can see what is going on.

The US is still in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2011 and over 14 trillion dollars in debt! According to a report by RT (Russian Television www.rt.com) ) which tells another side of the story a lot of people don’t hear in North America, over half of federal taxes in the US goes towards defense which includes the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Imagine going to Russian TV and an Arab TV Channel Al Jazeera to get another view of the news that CNN or FOX won’t tell you. RT also reports that the US has spent 3 trillion dollars for the war in Afghanistan and another 3 trillion for the war in Iraq. That is the economic side. It is estimated that up to a million Iraqis have been killed since the war began and over five thousand American troops have died. Now they, along with other NATO countries are bombing government targets in Libya. It is been said the Libya has one of the best qualities of oil in the world. Also, the nation's gold reserves are believed to be among the world's 25 biggest, according to the International Monetary Fund. Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi has gold reserves worth $7 billion. Even though they are targeting Gaddafi and his army, there are no doubt innocent civilians getting killed as well. RT reports it has cost NATO over 500 million dollars for the first 10 days of the Libyan war. Bombs are not cheap!

What will the war in Libya lead to for the US and its allies? Will it bankrupt the economy? Will it lead to terrorism attacks in the US and other Western nations? There are a growing number of people across the world that do not like the US. Anti American Sentiment is increasing because of US foreign policy and the killing of innocent civilians and the exploitation of third world countries and citizens to satisfy the greed of American and western corporations, not because they hate our freedom as the wise man George Bush once stated. Will it lead to a greater war in the Middle East and eventually bring countries like China and Russia into this conflict? Will the US ever learn that it can’t invade and bomb countries when and where it seems fit? Will these wars based on greed and lies ever stop? I live in Canada and I admit that we are not immune to being involved in these conflicts, as we are in Afghanistan and are playing a small part in the Libyan conflict. I am not bashing Americans either as many are aware of the lies and deceits being told to them by their governments and media and are not happy. Many unfortunately are not aware of the real truth. North Americans are being sucked into these wars to satisfy corporate greed and our power hungry corrupt leaders. Then there are a vast amount of people in the US and Canada that don’t really care if it doesn’t involve them. If they get their gas at the pump at a fair price and live a lifestyle of luxury they don’t really care what happens on the other side of the globe. If this continues however, it will come back to haunt us in a tragic way. The policies of the United States government and other western governments to some extent along with corporate manipulation that dictates decisions made by these governments is corrupt and deceitful and needs to be stopped or our children will inherit a more hostile world than we have today.
