Love, Joy and Peace

So this is Christmas and what have you done
Another year over and a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one the old and the young
A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one without any fear
And so this is Christmas for weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones the world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas for black and for white
For yellow and red ones let's stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one without any fear………
War is over over if you want it.

There is no better time than Christmas and year end to take inventory. That is taking inventory of our lives and what we have done in this world and to our brothers and sisters that inhabit it. In our modern world, Christmas has lost its real meaning. We have become slaves to consumerism, which has taken over what the holidays should be about. While I reflect on my on personal situation in regards to not having a relationship with my daughter who I love dearly (who was only three when her mom and I separated), there are hundreds of millions of other people who have pain in their hearts. The pain often gets magnified during the Christmas season for many people, including myself.

I am thankful for what I do have. I am blessed in many ways. However, while not being overly caught up by the massive consumerism of the holidays it is hard to ignore the news and the world around us. We see wars and destruction throughout the world and even talk of new wars. Millions of people have been killed due to needless wars in the past few years. Disease and famine do not take a break for the holidays. There are others that are unemployed or even homeless due to economic conditions. When they see the bright Christmas lights and the media pumping up consumerism it must hurt deep inside that they are victims of this harsh world. Perhaps they are not really victims if they have peace and love in their hearts instead of hate and greed!

Let us all reflect this Christmas how we can make the world a better place. Maybe we some of take time to volunteer for a charity. Maybe we can take time and buy a homeless person a meal. Perhaps we can make amends with family members that we have harboured hostility with. We need to put more love and forgiveness in our hearts this Christmas and throughout 2012. I hope you have a peaceful and safe Christmas and New Year.
